National TV Free Week Goals

The fourth week in April is National TV free week. This sounds like it could be a challenge for many of us (me included). I've been trying to be better at my screen time in general, but this is a great excuse to kick it for a full week!

Here's a fun list of things you can do instead of watching the tube (organized by category, of course):

Active:

  • Play with your pet

  • Go Camping

  • Go for a walk

  • Go Rock Climbing

  • Meditate

  • Do yoga

  • Play with your kids

  • Go for a bike ride

  • Go for a hike

  • Find free to-dos in your town or city

  • Throw a frisbee

  • Play kickball

  • Have a picnic

  • Have a bonfire

  • Make a fort

  • Dance

  • Do a workout

Around the House:

  • Cook a fun, healthy meal

  • Prep meals for the week ahead

  • Organize under the sink(s)

  • Declutter your living space

  • Fix something that needs fixing

  • Clean out the pantry (Click here for my guide)

Learn/Try Something New:

  • Find a free concert in your area

  • Go to a Museum

  • Go to the Library

  • Take up a new skill (knitting, woodworking, dancing, drawing, etc)

  • Read a Book

  • Try a new board game or card game

  • Learn Cribbage if you don't know it!

Something Kind for Friends/Family:

  • Write a hand-written letters or postcards

  • Write a thank-you note to someone and show gratitude

  • Pick up the phone and call someone

  • Plan a lunch or dinner date with a friend

Brighten People's day:

  • Volunteer at your local food pantry

  • Collect trash during a walk

  • Donate blood

  • Foster a pet

  • Make hand-out bags for the less fortunate

  • Join Big Brother Big Sister

Practice Self-Care:

  • Do some dry skin brushing (a fun tutorial by Joy McCarthy)

  • Try abhyanga- a self-oil massage (more info here)

  • Try oil pulling (an article about that here)

  • Take a warm bath

  • Do a coconut oil hair mask before shampooing (read here)

  • Get a pedicure, or give yourself one

  • Paint your nails

  • Get a haircut

  • Meditate

  • Do a face-mask (try combining honey & cinnamon)

  • Do nothing for 10 minutes (Tedtalk)
